KMCT Group of Institutions hosted its first-ever TEDx event, TEDxKMCT Season 01, at its Kozhikode campus on 25th October 2025. With the theme “Quiet Steps, Bold Journeys,” the event brought together speakers and performers from different walks of life who shared their personal stories, experiences, and ideas that inspired everyone present.
TED, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, is devoted to the art of ideas - discovering, debating, and sharing those that inspire conversation, deepen understanding, and drive meaningful change. As a global platform, TED has transformed the way people think, learn, and connect. In that same spirit, TEDx events are organized locally to bring communities together and exchange fresh perspectives. TEDxKMCT carried this mission forward by creating a space for creativity, inspiration, and genuine connection within the KMCT community.
The TEDxKMCT season 01 saw eight distinguished speakers grace the stage, each bringing a distinct voice and perspective. Ms. Rekha Menon, celebrated media personality and anchor, Dr. Saji Gopinath, Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ms. Poornima Raman Ngomdir, sports physiotherapist, Dr. Achuthsankar S. Nair, academician, researcher, and cultural thinker, Mr. Abdul Basim Nalakath (Basim’s Plate), food vlogger and social media influencer, and Mr. Fayis Asraf Ali, international cyclist and global peace ambassador, shared their unique perspectives and experiences which gave them the opportunity to represent themselves at an event like this.
What made the evening even more special was seeing KMCT’s own student & Faculty, Dr. Hana Abdul Kareem and Dr. Hiba Abdul Raoof, on stage. They spoke about their journeys, their dreams, and the experiences that shaped them, stories that everyone in the audience could relate to. For the KMCT community, it was a proud moment to watch two of their own represent the institution at an event like this, showing that big things often start in familiar places.
The evening had its share of art and emotion too, with beautiful performances by theatre artist Dr. Arif Kandoth and handpan maestro Mr. Chirag Vaitheeswaran, which added a special charm to the event.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Narayanan Ramaswamy, National Leader – Education and Skill Development, KPMG India. Dr. Navas K.M., Chairman of KMCT Group of Institutions, Dr. Ayisha Nazreen, Executive Trustee, Director, and Organizer of TEDxKMCT, and Dr. Nivea T. Francis, Co-organizer, spoke about new ideas, teamwork, and how sharing thoughts can make a difference.
With hundreds of students and faculty from different KMCT campuses taking part, TEDxKMCT Season 01 turned out to be a huge success. The event marked KMCT’s entry into a global space of ideas, a place where thoughts born on our campus can grow, inspire, and make a difference beyond our walls. At a time when everyone is chasing quick success, TEDxKMCT Season 01 reminded us that real progress takes time, that slow, steady steps often lead to the boldest journeys.
